What is Halo?

Halo is a new and unique system which addresses the business requirement for an effective and early deceased fraud prevention alert.

For example, it allows a credit manager to stop identity fraud in its tracks by verifying an applicant’s details and deceased characteristics at the start of the process. It enables business managers to make more informed decisions, promoting responsible lending. And it helps to authenticate ‘your customer’.

Halo is a unique system based on a database of over 7 million deceased records, with all data verifiable. Currently, it is the largest and most reliable source of deceased names in the UK, with over 40,000 new names added each month.
Halo is built from the following sources:
Governmental Records – official certified deaths.
Funeral Directors – records supplied by agreement after burial or cremation.
Data Exchange – through major UK insurance companies.
Deceased Preference Service – consumer collection service.
Third party notifications – information supplied direct from consumers stating that a person formerly resident at the address is now deceased.

All data records have been scored with a confidence flag from 1 to 10 based on the level of verification of the data record. This latitude gives credit managers the confidence to accept, reject or pass applications for secondary checking.

Halo is available as a single file for integration into your own verification process.

“It is estimated that over £1 billion has been overpaid in deceased pensions over 10 years.”
